I’m in the process of trying to switch my blog over to WordPress from blogger. Which is why the formatting looks all icky and half-baked. Hopefully I’ll get it sorted out soon. CSS is harder than I expected!

here’s the progress on my blanket so far:
lots of squares
starting to sew the squares together!
i’m thinking about dropping out the palest pink color, and I’m adding in a dark brown color, and more red squares.

I’ve got a new card design up for sale, special for Valentine’s Day! fun!!
fun folky valentine card
printed on the gocco machine, using two screens – the pink stripes are the first screen, then the color gradient is a second screen using a carefully blended mix of a dozen different ink colors!

I finished making all my t-shirt samples and I am so excited for my new orange tank-top and I
have been wearing it every day. It’s starting to turn to Fall here and I am also excited for Fall because we moved here at the end of the Northern Hemisphere summer, which was the beginning of the Southern Hemisphere summer and we got two summers in a row! I loved both of them but it was a long sweaty hot time and feels sooo good to start having crisp days and cold nights. Everyone looks cute with sweaters and pants and fall clothes on. I got dressed up for dinner on Saturday night and I had to take a picture of my fall outfit including my new favorite silkscreened tank-top.

This is old news but I was just reminded that it’s something cool I want to share. In October I worked on a really fun project, constructing a very special hand puppet, Milton the Magical Flying Tiger. Milton is from Mexico, where he lived at the very top of a magical mountain. He loves to eat marshmallows and macaroni!
Milton went to live in a magical zoo as part of Crazy Dreams, a Halloween house for kids ages 2-10 at the Clemente Solo Velez Cultural Center in the Lower East Side.
Kerri Mahoney was art directing the house and I was very excited when she asked me to contribute a magical animal puppet! Milton took a couple of solid weeks of hard work. Making big squishy animals is harder than it looks. He’s made of felt and thread and stuffing and glue and cardboard and and plenty of blood, sweat and tears. He’s got a soft fuzzy furry belly and he likes tummy rubs.
Milton was on the TV! NY1 News did a little story about fun halloween activities for kids: NY1 archived story

Last weekend we took the t-shirts to the Renegade Craft Fair in Williamsburg and it was such a HUGE success!! A beautiful sunny weekend and lots of amazing stuff. I was too busy selling t-shirts to take many pictures. Big thanks for Mike for being an awesome salesman and great company. And to everybody who stopped by to say hi. The fair went so well I was inspired to finally re-post Morris & Essex online: www.morrisessex.net. Hopefully there will soon be online ordering too!

I’m learning to use a knitting machine. Me and Mike want to make nice pillows. This is the first prototype.
